Mary Macarthur and the Women Chainmakers
Through rousing traditional songs and moving ballads, Townsend Theatre Productions reveals the plight of the woman chainmakers of Cradley Heath. In 1910, they stood up for their right to earn a living wage, led by the founder of the National Federation of Women Workers, Mary Macarthur. Their ten week strike more than doubled their earnings and successfully established the right to a minimum wage. A welcome return for Townsend Productions (We Are The Lion’s Mr Manager; We Will Be Free; United We Stand).
Followed by a Q & A with Unison.
